So I finally found my cord for my camera so that I can post my pictures of my JSK. I already have two people who want me to make them one and this makes me happy because it makes me feel like one day I might be able to sell what I make. There is still a lot for me to learn. Now I am very proud of this and this is actually very simple to make, I didn't even use a pattern. For the hem, I did look up on youtube.com on how to make it and it was surprisingly simple! I didn't do a tutorial, but when I make another one for one of my friends I will be sure to document it.
This is a small corner in my room. It's a bit of a messy corner. Ignore the hangers, the empty wine bottle, and It Takes Two VHS tapes. Just look at the awesome JSK of awesome! Ok, so I might be over-selling it, but I LOVE how this came out! It came out even better than my sketch.
Second full length picture. I cannot wait until I get to wear this to a meet! There is also a design for a purse, in the shape of a cupcake that will be made with the same fabric. Also going to try and make some matching jewlery. Of course this will have to wait after I finish helping my friends with their cosplay costumes.
On the two top bows I had sewn on these cute buttons! Originally I wanted cupcake buttons, but the ones I found I felt that they were too juvenile. Then I came across these buttons, a tea pot and tea cup. The buttons matched the dress in colors and also it could go with the theme. Who doesn't like a spot of tea with dessert?
So cute! :)
So after making this skirt, it just makes me think even more about how I want to go back to school and go for Fashion and Design. It's going to be really hard, and its a tough industry... but I can't think of doing anything else that would make me happy! I am looking into my options. Until I do go back to school, I am going to keep sewing and keep working on my projects. And to keep me from shopping, I will not buy any new clothing except for underwear and socks.... unless I learn how to make those too. If I need new pants, I will learn how to make them and buy the fabric. If I need new shirts... like I do now, I will just have to buy a pattern and try my best to make one. It kind of sounds extreme to me, but its probably also the best way for me to learn.
Well, it is late and I have work in the morning. Thanks for reading, and please check out my esty to see the new product pictures that my friend took, they look really good! Thanks again and stay pretty!

PS. Picture of me in my JSK. I swapped out the top. Sadly I picked a different pettiecoat because the other one was just too tight. And there is the purse!
It looks lovely! I am also going to Otakon and want to make a skirt in the gothic Lolita style. But first, I have to make the petticoats! If you have any experience with them, could you share it with me/us? Also, if you need a room, the Baltimore Lolita group has 2 at the Sheraton that we want to split - just let me know. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, thanks :) I haven't made a petticoat before, but there was a really good tutorial on youtube. I will try to find it for you and everyone else who needs help in making them. As for Otakon, its kind of up in the air as to whether or not I am going, mostly because I might not be able to afford it. If I do go, I will probably stay with some friends, but thank you for the invitation and I will let you know if I go and if I will take you up on your offer! Again, thank you :)
