What has PLV Been Doing?

Hello!

I have been out of the Loop for a bit, I know.  Facebook keeps reminding me I have a blog, and that people actually read it!

I just recently came back from Georgia!  Sadly I was in Georgia AFTER Frill, so I didn't get to go to the convention.  Plans are in the works for the next one, so I am going!  I just need to map out my vacation accordingly.  I will warn you that if I get to go to Disney World, then that trumps Frill.

Anyway, I was in Georgia to meet up with my Harry Potter Crew!  I only wore Lolita 1 day, but I think I picked a good day to wear it, because that is when we went to the Atlanta Historic Center and got to see the Swan House.  The Swan House was built in the 1920's and was owned by the Edward H. Inman Family.  They had actor's who walked around as the architect, interior designer, and the butler.  Each character had information about the house.  The Butler could tell you about his day to day tasks, what it was like to work for the Inman family.  The Interior Designer knew everything about all the furniture and paintings, from where they were purchased from and why, she was even able to tell us about the wall paper!  Honestly we didn't really talk to the architect.  Needless to say, I felt pretty elegant wearing my Lolita Dress at this house.  There was also a farm we went too, where we got to pet some sheep!

Aside from that, that was the most lolita-ish thing we did on the trip.  When I came back from Georgia, I met up with other lolita's for some mini golf fun and to see the Monsters University movie... and I mean the day I landed back in Baltimore, I went home, dropped my bags off and changed into my Lolita Dress and ran out! This particular dress is something I recently reconstructed. I had the top from that BTSSB dress, and I made a new bottom and attached it.  I even made a little headdress to go with it!

Other than that, I have been pretty lazy.  I have been trying to make it out to meets and make some new stuff, but with work I have just been feeling really drained, and I am supposed to be starting school again soon, with over time at work!  Why do I keep doing this to myself?

I suppose I should make a better effort to update my blog.  A friend recently gave me some advice, and I think I am going to take it.  That being said, I am going to attempt to update my blog at least once a week!  I will try to shoot for either Tuesday or Thursdays, as those days I get off from work early (more personal information...).  Keep a look out for reviews!  I recently made my first Innocent World purchase, and a purchase from Taobao.  I'm not going to be too critical on the sizes, because I could only go by what the charts online said.  Hopefully everything fits, and if it doesn't I know that I will need either a larger or smaller size in the future.

That's it for now!

Work, School, Too much stuff!

So it feels like it has been ages since I wore anything Lolita or have been out to a meet... and then I remember that most of my wardrobe is stuff for spring, and I have been too busy to go out and report any Meetups!

I am trying to juggle work, boyfriend, sewing, and school.  My main problem is when I come home from work, I am just too tired to do anything.  However today I am going to work on my Presentation Board for school, provided I get ink for a printer... because... well it's hard to print anything without that.  So speaking of my Presentation Board, I felt that it would be neat to talk about what I am doing for my project.  I have to take a design and basically tell what I think inspired the designer's design.  I chose Channel's 12-13 Collection Cruise line.  I am saying that these designs (I have to pick one though I think... maybe... it was really unclear in the directions and when I asked my teacher, I just got more confused so I am going to do my best here), were inspired by Rococo Interior Design.  Here is the link.  Yeah, I am still not posting pictures on here because Blogger still likes to fight with me.

So, I really need to finish this project this week.  Once I finish doing that, I am knuckling down on the contest winner design!  It's sad, it's just sitting there, all the pieces are there just waiting to be put together!  I might need to get a zipper for it though... maybe... We are still trying to figure that part out.

Anyway, back to the Channel line.  When I saw these, I thought most of them looked Lolita like, some of them not so much, but I really like some of these designs and would love to wear them.  Too bad they are even more expensive than Brand, but that is just how it goes.  I would love to make some more winter clothes for myself, but I really do not feel as though I have up to the task at this point, so I just might be buying some Winter Lolita outfits.  Probably from Bodyline, that is all I can afford, but I am not sure if I want to buy a winter coat from there because I have heard some mixed reviews and it is supposed to be a super cold winter this year.  If anyone has any suggestions for a good Lolita Winter coat, I don't care if it is brand or what so long as it keeps me warm and I cute :)

Really pondering about doing a Webshow... the only problem is that I already do not have enough time to do anything else, and I really don't know what I would talk about other than the pieces I have made and my general day.  That idea is probably going to go on the back burner until I can really think this idea through.

Oh, for those of you who like Trains, there is going to be a Lolita Meet at the Strasburg Railroad.  Lolitas from Baltimore and PA will be meeting to ride the train and possibly venture into the Museum.  I am excited because I have never ridden on a train like this, and having a bunch of us dressed up in frilly outfits will be exciting!

Well, my lunch break is over, so I got to go.  Hopefully I will be continuing with my updates regularly and find more interesting things to discuss when everyone!

Thanks for reading!

Tea Time...

So for my project that I am redoing, I came up with a theme for my color inspiration book.  Tea.  I have created a Lady Grey Dress, and a Longjing Green Tea dress (Chinese Green Tea) dress design, and will make designs inspired by Chai, Camomile, Darjeeling, and Assam .  I will be making an Earl Grey to go with Lady Grey as well (He counts as his own tea!).  I really want to create the Longjing Tea Dress, the design is simple, but the print is crazy.  Most likely I will have to paint the design on because I do not have the money to have fabric costum made!

So as I said before, what I am making is a Color Book.  It's a book that has the colors I want to use and what inspired me to use them.  Tea has inspired me, and not just tea, but tea from other cultures.  In our project we could either do magazine clippings, or we could sketch designs.  I first did clippings, but decided that since I am doing my project over, I am going to sketch this time.  The only thing that makes me nervous is someone possibly stealing my designs, but I really want to impress my instructor since the project is coming in late and I need to make up for that!

For others who are interested in starting your own line or going into Fashion and design, I would recommend making these.  It's basically your ideas in a book that you would present to a distributor or someone who would possibly be interested in selling your line.  It's an easy way to make a collection as well, so long as you are staying with a certain theme.  Will I post pictures?  I don't know, I say that I will do a lot of things :P  So lets just see how this goes!

Well, my break is up and I still haven't worked on my project yet today... Kinda need to get a move on that.  Don't forget to submit for the contest! Take advantage of the extension!

Hugs and Kisses,
